Growing Conditions

2016 was a standout vintage for Shiraz. The fruit was particularly intense in colour and flavour, as showcased in this Family Selection, single varietal Shiraz. Autumn and winter were dry and cool which meant the start of the growing season was slightly delayed. Winter rainfall was low and some irrigation was used to replenish the soil moisture. Relatively mild summer climatic conditions with warm days and cool nights. An absence of extreme heat ensured even ripening therefore intensifying the varietal characteristics.
