Eight at the Gate Wines

Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast

Brief History

Owned and operated by sisters Jane Richards and Claire Davies, the vineyard is located in Wrattonbully, South Australia. As part of South Australia's Limestone Coast Wine Region, Wrattonbully is famous for its Terra Rossa soils which provide ideal conditions for grapes to grow.
With a constant supply of fresh subterranean water that filters through the limestone and a temperate climate, moderated by the influence of the Great Southern Ocean.
These excellent conditions allow the vineyards to thrive and produce outstanding quality wines.
Jane and Claire have been supplying premium grapes to some of Australia’s most iconic wine labels since 1995. Labels such as Penfolds, Orlando and Taylors.
Starting in 2005, Jane and Claire began keeping a careful selection of the highest quality fruit for themselves to produce wines for their family and friends to enjoy.
Named after their 8 children who can usually be seen hanging off a gate or a fence somewhere.
The sisters' philosophy around growing grapes and making wine is much the same as raising their children; provide a sustainable, healthy, nurturing environment and don’t interfere too much!
These women are producing wines that are winning hearts, palates, and awards around the world.
Eight at the Gate, made with passion, resolve and a touch of chaos 😉
